South Buxton Cemetery Assoc. Fees
South Buxton Cemetery Association FeesEffective May 30, 2025
As a 501(C)(13) non-profit the South Buxton Cemetery Association devotes its income to annual operations (labor, equipment, buildings and grounds) and perpetual care. The governing officers and board of directors are members of the Association, serving on a volunteer basis. Labor costs are paid only to our part time Staff and Superintendent on an hourly basis. All fees and policies may change as our costs change. In addition to our fees, we depend on donations from our members and the community to maintain the cemetery.
Burial Lots for conventional burials and cremations are our most limited resource. Their costs include what we paid for the land, but are the primary contribution to our annual operating costs and perpetual care. Currently, 30% of lot sales go directly to restricted perpetual care funds on which we can only spend the interest.
Lots and Graves: First Grave - $1,560 Additional Graves - $1,455 10% Veteran & Spouse discount Deed & Recording Fee, One per Application - $105 No interment of two or more bodies shall be made in one grave except for up to two cremations, or a mother and infant child, or two infants, or an infant and two cremations, or an adult and a cremation, provided only one marker/stone monument is used with all inscriptions on same.
Columbarium Niches: Double niches are a popular alternative to in-ground cremation burials. Two urns can go in either a niche or a grave. The purchase cost of the columbarium units for the cemetery is the most significant part of the niche price, but perpetual care is also included with a similar 30% reserve. We also have opening and closing labor costs plus a bronze plaque. The units are insured and set on a large permanent foundation.
Double Niches: First Columbarium $3,500 plus any plaque costs over $365 after May 2026 Second Columbarium $4,800, plus any plaque costs over $365 after May 2026The Columbarium allows an all-season alternative to in-ground interment, and the benefit of affordable predictable costs. The purchase of a Double Niche (one space to accommodate two urns) includes: preparation cost, including opening and closing (up to two), a beautiful bronze identity plaque engraved with all information and perpetual maintenance (There is no additional monument cost) For more information call 207-929-4773, or Email sales@southbuxtoncemetery.com

A portion of the fees is also necessary to support our other annual operations. Members are not assessed for annual operating costs.Interment and memorialization of our family members is the key service of the cemetery.
